Why and How to Change Your Water Filter

A filter that has not had its cartridge replaced on time is not just ineffective — it can release trapped contaminants back into the water stream. Regular maintenance is essential.

How Often Should You Change Your Filter?

• Sediment filters: every 3–6 months for bore/rainwater; 6–12 months for town supply
• Carbon block drinking filters: every 6–12 months
• Whole-house carbon filters: 6–12 months depending on usage
• UV lamp: every 12 months regardless of usage

If water pressure drops noticeably, your sediment filter cartridge is blocked — replace it immediately.

How to Change a Standard Cartridge

1. Turn off the water supply to the filter.
2. Press the red pressure relief button on top of the housing, or open a downstream tap.
3. Unscrew the housing bowl anti-clockwise using the supplied wrench.
4. Remove the old cartridge and note how it was seated.
5. Rinse the housing bowl with clean water.
6. Insert the new cartridge, ensuring it seats properly.
7. Check the o-ring — replace if cracked or distorted.
8. Screw the housing back on firmly by hand, then a quarter turn with the wrench.
9. Slowly turn the water supply back on and check for leaks.
10. Run water for 2–3 minutes to flush the new cartridge before drinking.
